Ice is pulled from the environment and shaped into photographic optics which are placed into a hand-made lens and used to photograph the landscape.  Each ice optic is unique and irreplaceable, just like the landscapes photographed. As with the landscapes, the lenses will melt and disappear. Viewing the polar landscape through a piece of itself offers an intimate interpretation of the region based on emotional connections cultivated through self-portrait like imagery.
